Find Center in LightBurn

Hello ,
Best WAY to get the project outlined correctly ? The lazer always seems to be going offset and half of my material gets wasted due to not finding the center , the test run is no good at all as looking it from above it can still go left or right a few cm … which meanins ruined .
Thanks

I don’t quite understand your problem, what are you doing?, engraving or cutting, at what speed?
Can you make a screenshot to visualize the problem?

Engraving . It’s hard to find where the project outline will go , there is a test run in the program but looking @ it from above can be misleading as its always off a few cm .

Do you have no physics 0:0 distance edges on your workbench on X and Y? It requires that the laser is stationary connected to the cutting bed itself.

It is not easy to see, but for my diode laser I have made a bed with screws that form the 0 edges. When I place a right-angled piece of wood at these edges, it matches 0:0 in LightBurn.

I don’t know if that’s what you mean or if it’s overscan during engraving that you’re referring to.

Hi Mario!
The print and cut feature might be able to help you out, it allows you to align your laser over a few real life points and match them to points in your design in LightBurn (e.g you could use the outer corners of a rectangular design to align them to a rectangular piece of material of a matching size).

Here’s a video on it:

And the documentation:

We also have the circle center finder, if you’re using circular stock:

If you are still having issues with these methods then it could be that if you’re using a red dot laser for framing your work (different laser to the cutting one) that your red dot isn’t aligned to your cutting point. If so you will need to fix this on the hardware side, and it would be best to seek info from your machine manufacturer as to how to do so.

You are running in absolute coordinates?

Thanks for the reply . New to the software and yet to figure it out , was looking for the easiest way to set it up so I don’t waste so much to get the projects centered . Will give those a try !

As @jkwilborn rightly writes, it is of course necessary. I forgot to say that because I always have my system set to absolute coordinates
Let me know if you need a little more information or pictures to find a workable solution.
