Finding the best focus lens

Of course I do not trust answers, you gave me the thing that I needed. You said that good optics will increase 5% in performance… that is all I needed and also I wondered if is there any lens that can help by 7% maybe…Then @ednisley started saying that optics can not help if my tube is broken and also started calling the lens I mentioned that according to internet are robust and durable fancy lens. Of course my tube is not perfect, it is old, it worked in hard condition, I do not mind changing it any time soon because it still cuts and makes me money. Also the time has come to change my stock lens I would rather give 20 euros more for the “fancy” lens, because even if that lens is only 5% better, durable, robust - any of it - than the cheap and stock one I do not care considering the small difference in price. I am awere that the new tube would make a huge difference in performance, but that is not what is this topic all about. It is about the best quality focusing lens.

Thank you all for time spent in this discussion!

I understand perfectly well that you want to buy the best, that’s excellent. The only thing I would like to note in this context is that you most likely will not see any difference whatsoever by switching from a clean standard lens to a clean, more expensive lens. They both get dirty just as quickly and last just as many hours.
I don’t think about the price difference either, but I also don’t want to buy distilled water at the pharmacy.
It’s just well-intentioned experience I want to share and it’s not a religious war.
So if you feel and believe that it benefits your laser business, buy the most expensive optics you can get.

have been using a 4 inch lens for a few years now, Nice results and much more tolerant of focus (tolerates +/- 1/8 inch or more with no visible difference. Still gets sharp lines.

I am a believer in Moly mirrors as well. Recently had a gold coated mirror #1 burn out (had not cleaned it in a long time - my bad.) replaced it with a moly mirror and picked up where I left off. Moly is metal, tough and handles routine cleaning well.

My 4" has a dof of ~4.2mm. I use it to cut 10mm acrylic. Can’t really see a change that causes a sloping cut.

I use this online calculator.

Some items must come from elsewhere as it’s different value. These are what I’ve setup.
