When you engrave on a tile to use as a coaster, is there a finish or something that should be applied to the top?

I have not done tile coaster’s, but I have made wood ones and I used oil based polyurethane.It makes them more durable and repels liquids pretty good so far, though it does affect the color of the wood by causing slight yellowing but not too bad. Someone else may have a better option for tiles though. Hope that helps.
