I would never use anything but a CO2 extinguisher on a laser machine. Others will leave deposits that will degrade you machines operation.
CO2 cools and extinguishes the fire then evaporates leaving no trace. I would try to keep it away from a glass tube though because the rapid cooling will crack the glass.
De ionized Water is looking for an Ion Source. Aluminum is an abundant source and thus very prone to damage when exposed to Di H2O.

These are for electrical firesâŚenjoy. Here is the link to the First Alert EZ Fire Spray.
I read the complete MSDS and only found one caveat: âSpecific hazards - Burning produces irritant fumes.â The MSDS did not address the effect of a salt on electronic circuits.
Anyhow, the statement about saving the house is more important to me, so I ordered a pair of them. I was impressed with the advertised 30-second discharge time.
@silver2row , thanks for the suggestion!
After all the fire extinguisher I have is 1Kg. (better than 0.5 as I thought)
I donât live very close to the sea, but I know that there are boats with aluminum hulls, Iâm glad you mentioned it because itâs true.
I donât know anything about these types of boats, but I bet that the hull will have regular inspections and specific treatment.
This should be the answer because aluminum has different reactions depending on the type of water in contact.
Thank you.
I have a comparable system from my aquarium with a SodaStream or compatible cartridge, a precision regulator and a 12V solenoid valve, so it can be controlled by the motherboard, or with a cell connected in series to the fire light, as the light flashes, it diffuses CO2 to me in fits and starts, it works wonderfully, choose a tube that is resistant to CO2, another system that I tested is a 12V mini peristatic pump, it costs 3 euros on the net, the problem is that it wets. Donât believe everything you hear about fire extinguishers, here itâs a question of extinguishing with the laser beam from the start, not a house fire, for that you need real fire extinguishers (with verified date) and the firefighters! A brand sells a system at a high price and itâs just a mini water pump! I much prefer the Co2 system which deprives the fire of oxygen, itâs clean, dry and efficient, only the pressure extinguishes the flame! BUT THE BEST IS TO ALWAYS BE NEXT TO THE MACHINE, USE A CAISOâ ADAPTER IS ALSO A GOOD THING!
