I am trying to figure out the fastest way to center the text onto the plate without having to frame several times. Doesn’t always center.
The back side of the red plate has little bubble like dots so I had to etch on top side of plate.

under laser tools at the top, try center finder.
Gotta build a jig Lucie.
I think we’ve been down this road before…?
A jig is the most simple, especially if the plates have a ridge or lip they sit on. Some of my plates just curve up from the bottom.
If they have a lip, it’s relatively simple to cut that hole out of something and use it to align the part.
There is also a camera you can mound and visually align the plate with the use of the camera and absolute coordinates.
Cameras cost money, a simple jig is a piece of thin wood and figuring out how to secure it in one position.
I do this on the fiber for coins… a shallow lip area and the center with a quick clean. Takes < 2 minutes to make it. I buy cheap steel strips from ACE hardware … they are expendable.
