Hi all I am just getting into lasers and engraving and I am looking for a laser engraver that can be used with light burn Price point not more than $2000 cad. Being able to cut is a big plus however i am looking for a quick laser engraver. I sure could use some sound advise.
Hi Bob
Remember to price in an Enclosure, Extraction for smoke n fumes, Protective eyeware.
You could possibly buy quite cheap and get the hang of it and spend a bit more when you’ve realised the strengths & limitations of each kind of laser and can figure a good price point for your needs.
What machines have got your attention so far?
I did buy a laserpecker2 however it requires me to give them access to private personal info including access to the files i use who I am were i live contacts , etc.
The one I am looking at now it is the
X30 PRO by Atomstack however I am thinking that starting off smaller might be an idea if I will be able to upgrade it. perhaps a 10w.
I have an Atomstack A70 Pro and i love it. Dual wattage 35/70 watt. Still under 2k with the Honey Comb Bed. Cuts 3mm or 6mm baltic birch in one pass. I’ve had three different Atomstack’s and have been very happy with each one.
I did some reading both here in the forums and online plus a few YT videos I ended up with the ATOMSTACK A10 PRO V2. It will be slower than I would like however at the price point it will do ( fine detail engraving) all I want and will give me the experience that I need. plus I can upgrade it.
As a beginner I can say that trying to understanding the way my snapmaker ray 20w works and lightburn software and new’ish laptop/os and building an enclosure, its been a rollercoaster ride all the way…and continues still, but it’s all good.
I would recommend time spent reading the forum is well invested.
Its still a headwreck when its your thing to fix and not someone else, but the fog does condense and understanding begins.
Make sure any future upgrading is affordable and as plug and play as your skills require.
Speed isnt the thing…Till it is, and can have its downside…better the work be good esp if your into detail.
And a good smoke extraction setup is essential, as I found out today.
Best of Luck.
I cant believe Laserpecker requires all your private information as you mentioned. That would be a deal killer for me. I could understand Name and Address but access to my files and my contact list is none of their business
Don’t take my word though. Check the app permissions yourself. To me it is no different that buying a saw from DeWalt and they have no right to any personal information.
It ended up that I got a Vevor 20w.The Atomstack 10w had to cross the border and was going to arrive sometime early April. The Vevor arrived today and is assembled and waiting.
