First "sort of" controlled test

Hello all

I managed to do my first test today on the Snapmaker ray 20w, where I was somewhat more in control.
I have a homing cycle issue thats not sorted yet as I cant get a video of the issue loaded to googledrive for the support to look at.
I decided to crack-on regardless and kept the module away from limits.

I did a power/speed test on 5mm ply with a redish type hue to it, and an image engrave on some scrap White deel.

The focus bar was set at 3mm (0 means focus is at surface).
I got a nice little relief on the white deel (fingernail thick).

Can I ask what you-all think of the results on the P/S test…and the image needs improving by getting the background removed for some contrast and less grainy material, Im picking up a sheet of 6mm ply tomorrow.

Images are the most difficult thing you can do with a laser. It is a LOT of trial and error. If you are getting a fair image, you are past the half-way point.

Thanks Mike
Yesterday was a great day,The problem with googledrive was sorted by using the Desktop version. I could view files but not upload or share links. I got the video of Alarm8 sent off to snapmaker so should be able to get the Homing issue dealt with after the weekend.

Finaly, I was able to Jog to position,
Frame, Use red crosshairs and adjust power/speed on the go..and know what I was doing…Totally like learning to drive a stickshift.

I was very happy with doing the Interval and S/P test and the quality of the cut but must do it again today with good focus.
