Flip vertical also flips horizontal

Not sure if this has been brought up, I searched and found other issues with flipped images, etc., but not this one in particular.

Maybe I’m not thinking about flipping the same way as others.

To me flipping vertical seems that it should basically be the same thing as rotating 180 degrees but when I flip a group of object, it also flips horizontally.

Think of it as something on a piece of glass. To flip it, you are now looking at the back side.

Looking at it that way still shouldn’t flip the object horizontally as well should it?

I’m vertical flipping half of these door frames to save a little space. Notice that there is slot for a hinge so the door opens from right to left, after flipping vertically it now opens from left to right -
Before

After

Maybe my coffee hasn’t kicked in yet lol.

Has to be the coffee.
If you rotate, yes the hinge slot will change sides.
If you flip, it is looking at it from the back so no change in the hinge side unless you flip both horizontal and vertical.

Ok, now I see what you’re saying. Brain fart I guess. I need to rotate not flip.

Thanks Mike

Mirror horizontal seems like it make more sense to me. Guess it’s just how you look at it.

“Mirror horizontal around center of axis” probably wouldn’t fit in the drop down.

I’m going to blame this one on my meds lol.

Things like this usually go better with beer. :grinning:

Yeah it would probably make more sense if I had a few.
Thanks again

Mirror vertically along center of horizontal axis.

I demand it be changed

You need to burn yourself a beer coaster that says that.

“Mirror vertical around objects Y0 axis” is what the icon shows :joy: … But it actually mirrors along center of objects Y axis… AHHHHHH Mirror vertical along objects Y0 axis and move object half of the objects Y vertically… lol

Flip vertical

Burning coaster now.

Well, not trying to state the obvious, but, it is flip, not mirror.
Unless it is mirror across line. Then it is flip “that a way” :upside_down_face:

My wood isn’t a piece of glass though so I screwed up half my frames :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Can’t you make the screwed up ones the out door instead of the in door?
Or, can’t you just flip them over after the cut?

If I didn’t already cut the doors… There’s etching on the front and one side is pre-stained so can’t just flip them.

But I can fit more doors than frames on a board, so I guess I’ll cut new doors for half of them, just need to remember to “flip horizontal” the text on the doors LOL.

What material are you using? That looks amazing!
