Focus test ignores material thickness setting

Hello,
I use material thickness to focus laser height/distance tube is away from material surface. 17mm minus material thickness is what they say, but I tries to run a focus test to find actual setting.

When I configured the focus test, I had it set from 0mm to 10mm. I ran test and it immediately crashes the tube into the material and drags the board around requiring an emergency stop. It appears that the material thickness value that is set is not getting cleared or zeroed, and instead is stacked. So it took my setting of 11.1mm as the zero, and continued to sive bomb the tube. The same happens during the interval test. Shouldnt the z setting be zeroed before the start of these tests or at least read so the z can be adjusted to correctly run the test?
