As the states, I have read all documentation and watched a dozen videos and still can’t get 3d slice to work well. I am using an HP laptop with LB version 1.6.03. I purchased a quality depth map for testing and cannot get more than a flat engraving.
Could you post a picture of the image? I also notice you have Lightburn set to beginner mode. You get a few more options if you turn that off in the settings window, though they may not make a difference for this particular project. Also, do you have a larger lens?
Not sure which lens you are using… these can be coverage or focal lengths.
No matter which lens, it’s got a very - very - very short depth of focus (dof). If you focus isn’t right on with a short lens it won’t deliver the power.
For an F100mm the dof is only 0.7mm – this has a coverage of about 70x70mm
There’s not a great amount of difference in the levels of grays in your image and I think you’d get better results with a larger lens, a 110 mm perhaps. With a 50 mm your focus has to be exact, as Jack says. Here’s a good grayscale depth map image you could try. Note the levels of gray in it.
I found using a 70 mm lens with my 30w fiber I could get good depth, detail and nice finishes but using that lens on my 60w the results were much coarser. Using a 110 or 220mm lens worked much better on the 60W but perhaps I needed to do more experimenting with the settings.
I think I missed the point here immediately as I’m having a “moment” and am clueless how to get to 3d sliced. Trying to make a nice Jessica Alba “tails” on a coin here (yes, I’ll post when I’m done:joy:) but I get “3d slicing” when I go to adjust image butt when I adjust settings “although created in depth-r as a png… I have no option when it’s time to go and hit start. Why? I thought that was the original question here. I have galvo selected, a 110 lens butt the option to 3d slice is nonexistent. Help?
If you have an image, you should see the option in image mode. This is only a b/w png image with no depth marking. I can use it with 3dslice, although kind of a waste, but the option is there.
