Fonts not working in 1.1.01

Just dropped my laptop and my ethernet port is not working. went home to grab laptop and moved all files over then update to the new version. tried opening a file and still getting the message for not being able to find the font. I thought this version it would atleast save the outline and still be able to run?

Are these files new created in 1.1.00 or 1.1.01?
If I take a file I created in 1.0.06 and open it in 1.1.01 on a pc without matching fonts then I still see that error.
If I create a file in 1.1.01 on one pc and then move it to my other machine running 1.1.01 that does not have a matching font then I do not get an error. I cannot edit the text, but it will burn for me ok if I leave it as-is.

the files are all old files. some from when lightburn first came out. all of my fonts that i had previously used ‘convert to path’ worked. which is how i thought the new update would work on all fonts this way.

The new feature relies on saving the file with the new version of LightBurn. Without that the path data would not be stored in the file. You could open the file in the new version of LightBurn and resave. That should get you what you expect.

PY is correct - when you save a file with the new version, it stores a copy of the actual generated shape of the text in the file, along with the words you typed, font used, etc. If you load that file on a system that doesn’t have the font installed, it uses the copy of the shape. If it finds the font, it uses the text version that lets you edit & change the properties.

We’ve unfortunately not figured out how to travel back in time to make old versions of LightBurn save the backup shape for you.
