AFAICT, real people handle user signups and bots slam bulk text into the messages, so some organization has a powerful motivation to post those phone numbers in public places. I find it difficult to believe anybody would be suckered into calling the number in those word walls, but apparently it pays off enough to make a career out of it.

We’re trying!
It’s hard to not be heavy handed with a filter, and we’re trying not to have to manually approve every new user, because we want people to be able to access the forum without a human gatekeeper.

Please keep flagging - after a certain threshold of spam flags, a post is automatically hidden and new users are silenced.

I did my best to flag as many as I could this morning but hit the limit at 23 in a 24hr period.
