Frame and G0 Y Different

I am using Lightburn through GRBL and an Arduino controller. I have created a simple shape 550mm x 50mm with origin and shape at 0 and absolute coordinates, When I frame the shape all works correctly as expected. I then enter G0 Y 550 and it will only go to approximately 500??? Any help appreciated.

Where are you starting from and are you using G90 or G91?

Can you run these commands in Console one at a time and return the output?

$H
$#
?
G90
G0 Y550
?
G0 Y0
G91
G0 Y550
?

Also, what happened at the two G0 commands?

Sorry for my delay but struggling to get the # in lightburn, Mabbook Air and iMac. Will keep trying

Found $# is $$ for info Will copy and print. Yhe two Go commands do what it should do however I have two different settings for two machines and will need to find out which is giving me problems

Are you saying that everything worked as intended?

Can you return the output generated from those commands?

I have been confusing myself by looking at two profiles. Both G90 and G91 went to the same spot which was about 450mm and not 550mm. Attach profile$1=25

Can you run the actual commands from my first post and return the exact output?

I am having difficulty in getting correct format to post

Are you copy/pasting the commands or hand entering? Try copy/pasting. Also, I don’t see output for the ? commands at all.

What is gp? Is that a command?

Sorry Big Finger gp G0 Y0. Will try again. Thanks

I have tried with all the start coordinates , Absolute, Current
and User all will not go past 500mm. If I create an oblong 550mm and Frame it will go to Y550.???

Somehow the output you’re generating is not correlating to the commands.

Can you confirm you are copy/pasting line by line?

Also, can you confirm whether or not your machine has homing switches? I had assumed until now that you had. If so, I’m questioning a number of things.

I suspect there’s something missing in what you’re describing.

How are you determining to where the laser head is travelling on Y?

Can you provide the following:

  1. Full screenshot of LightBurn with your design loaded and ready to frame?
  2. Video of the behavior that you’re seeing. You won’t be able to upload the video to the forum. You can host externally and link here, however.

Entering each command through keyboard, no copy paste
No limit switches
Laser head starts in same position front, left hand side
Not much to see on screen shot other than a box shape 550 x 80.
Off line on Laser so will try in morning
All the movements are as normal other than not traveling the distance as instructed .

This is not preventing me from using the machine but just a bit odd.

Thanks for your help and will try a video tomorrow although that will be an event on its own.

Please copy and paste each line, including the lines with the ? command. Since you do not have homing switches, ignore the first $H command.

How does this happen? Are you manually positioning the laser?

There may be things that you’re not noticing that are important. Please post the screenshot.

How are you determining this?

Very good. Will catch up with you in the morning.

Good morning

Movement was 500 mm in both instances

Laser head is manually positioned to front left

Travel distabce is to the top of my honeycomb bed at 500mm

All above were achieved on my iMac however Framing now only goes to the 500mm

Will attempt a scrreen shot and then try MacBook
