Trying to get started with my Omtech 60w, I engraved some text on a slate peg and noticed it was not centred horizontally (too low). It’s centred in Lightburn using the alignment tool.
The slate is H:20mm so I created a rectangle with a height of 20mm. Using current position I positioned the red dot on the very edge and clicked frame, frame is also out and goes past the bottom of the slate.
Red dot is bang in the centre of a pulse test. No offset turned on.
When framing, move the material so the frame is where you want it.
Where you place the material on the bed is not the same as where you draw it in Lightburn. Unless you use absolute positioning but you used current position so you need to set the origin in Lightburn to the same origin on the bed.
For squares it’s usually easier to set the origin in the exact center of the drawing, then position the laser to the exact center of the material and click set origin.
You have focused the laser at the top of the slate, then verified the beam vs. red dot positions, right? It’s not as though I’ve never focused at a different height and thought it was all good.
Hint: use cardboard until you work this out.
The misalignment could be a machine misconfiguration right out of the box.
The short version: in LightBurn 1.7, go to Edit → Machine Settings, click to drop down the Vendor Settings group, and agree to not wreck anything. In both X Axis Settings and Y Axis Settings, verify that PWM Rising Edge Valid is False.
