in order to center an image i have to keep framing and then move the material to fit the frame. i can size it but when i burn the project it sometimes is not burning the complete material. is there a way to resolve this? eg. a round piece of wood burning a owl but the outer lines do not fill the piece of wood. i can get it but it takes several times of sizing and moving the wood for each time i frame it. sometimes good other time not so good.
This sounds like a marginal Speed / Power setting. Please capture the Cuts / Layers window in LightBurn.
Photos of previous attempts would be helpful so we can have a mroe complete understanding.
its not an issue with the power or material, it burns the image fine. its the size of the image. i was wondering if there is a better way to size the image on a oval piece of wood. when I frame the image it seems difficult to get that to burn on the full size of the oval piece of wood. almost like it would be cool if the size of the material placed on the table would show up on the light burn grid.
2 suggestions:
- Get a camera for your laser, this will give you the view of the material on your LightBurn workspace as you’re envisioning.
- If you’re working with vector graphics using the rubberband frame rather than the rectangular frame might allow for more accurate positioning and sizing onto the material
I have an xtool D1 20w. do you know where I can get a camera? or I have not used vector graphics, is this an option in lightburn? sorry but i am fairly new to this… thanks for your help.
i purchased a light burn camera, I cant figure out how to have the camera show the wood I want to burn onto and insert the image on top of it so I can size it to the piece of wood. Any help is appreciated.
the camera shows what ever is on the laser table perfectly, but how can I put the image to be burned on top of that camera picture. maybe that explains my issue in more detail, Thanks
I somehow missed this post earlier. Yes, LightBurn leverages both vector and raster graphics.
Have you followed all the instructions on using a camera that’s found in the documentation?
Index - LightBurn Software Documentation
so I set up the camera according to the documentation, I am able to put the image on top of the camera shot of the material. When the laser head moves to origin points it goes back to the top of the table then starts to burn all the way down to the image leaving a burn line all the way across the material to the image start point.
So to be clear your camera is now working as expected?
This is an unrelated issue to the camera, correct?
Is this happening with all jobs or are you saying it’s somehow only occurring with jobs when using the camera?
How did you configure your laser? Did you follow the instructions on xTools site?
User Manual for xTool D1 LightBurn Software – xTool
it seems to be when using the camera, i am able to frame the material of the image without using the camera and it burned as it should.
Can you answer the question about how you configured your laser?
Also, can you provide the following:
- steps to reproduce the issue that’s distinct from a burn without using the camera
- screenshot of LightBurn with the setup just before burning
What you’re describing would be extremely unusual. Identifying what specifically is the triggering step or scenario will be key in understanding what’s going on. Right now I can’t see how camera overlay would in any way be related to this.
could it be possibly
yes Im sure i configured the laser according to x-tools documentation. but I will go over it again and I will re configure the camera set up as well. could it be an issue with starting with a line and not image or fill? also could it be something between user origin and absolute coordinates?
No. Not if I’m understanding what you’re describing. The laser should never be on unless there’s a portion of the design that should be burned.
Also no. This is almost certainly not going to be a LightBurn design setting.
Are you able to provide the 2 items from the previous post? That should be able to narrow down for me potential root causes.
