Framing (or failure thereof)

after setting origin, when I try to Frame, the laser moves down a few inches and stops or moves down and right, then stops. I’m able to jog up and down, Ive checked connections between gantry and motor, installed new USB cord. i installed new cord because I kept losing connection yesterday. I’m no technofile but I’ve found Lightburn to be relatively intuitive to operate up until this. What am I missing?

If you’re new to lasers and LightBurn I suggest you work in Absolute Coords as the Start From mode in Laser window.

Then follow these conditions:

  1. home the laser before every session
  2. never more the laser head by hand. Use the jogging controls exclusively
  3. don’t ignore any warning messages

With Absolute Coords you won’t need to set Origin.

Can you try this. What are the results?

I’ll be darned! This does bring up another question: the directional buttons move the laser too little or too far. How do I center more precisely?

I believe I’ve figured it out-thanks for your help. Mea Culpa: A friend who has been doing this for some time showed me by placing the laser in position manually

Seriously-I’ve never found a forum to be more helpful than this one.
