Free version to paid

I am just curious. It has been many years since I used Lightburn. I just purchased a Monport Reno65. It is supposed to come with Pro version. If I download the free version when I get the license can I just put that into the free version? Just wanting to play and work on some projects while I await for my laser to be delivered.
