Some of you have tried engraving 3D in Corian. Have done several pieces, thought this one might be of interest. Could have run a couple more passes, this one is 4 passes set at different settings for each pass.
Second photo of 3D Illusion engrave on 3mm Maple ply with MDF core. One Pass.
Yes I noticed the curtains a couple days ago. I am not going to get into changing things for awhile since my left wrist isn’t going to be ready for any work for possibly another 4 or 5 months. Sooooo…I will see if I have enough movement to tighten the belt and eliminate for awhile.
For experimenting only, I ran one pass at a time. Also adjusted the image on first pass to engrave all the faint lines etc. as well as light burning of background. Second through fourth pass I adjusted focus and brightness and contrast of the image plus speed and max + Min power.
I could have run at least two more passes to get a more rounded image. These take forever to do when large so I made this one 2" x 2".
With my exhaust system I noticed very little smell inside the shop and next to none outside. I have always hated the fine particle dust made when engraving Corian. I cranked the air assist to around 50psi which cleared almost all from the surface and the engraving. When I finished this piece I wiped the inside of cabinet which did not have a lot but it needed to be cleaned anyway. Also cleaned the mirrors.
Continue to work on making my own 3D Illusion files. I am not so inclined to spend all of my time on that endeavor. I have found folks doing the files I like. They, for the most part are not expensive and I get a lot more good results at this time.
No, Just developing at this time. One of these days I will get an easier way of making the 3D Illusions. They are my favorite.
I have no desire to tie up our large CNC for 3D since most files take forever to run and some don’t look so hot when they are finished.
Very nice 3D illusion. Did you create the file or purchase it. Still needing to learn more on this process and how best to approach. Too many interests and too little time.
I am working on a program to make the files myself. Have no idea when that will actually happen. I buy most of what I do now since it helps to understand what your laser will accomplish.
I sold my Diode laser, go to is a 60W/50W Omtech CO2 that for the most part I am 100% satisfied with. Some Diode lasers will accomplish very good 3D illusion.
All files I have bought require some adjustments to make things come out correctly. Weather, temperature of coolant water, clean mirrors etc.
