Gaps in Line mode, fill works fine

I have an Omtech 50 Watt CO2 laser with a Ruida controller. I have been using Lightburn 2-3 years and have an active license.

Recently, when I am in Line mode, the laser is leaving a gap. For instance, I created a square (have tried in Inkscape and Lightburn) and send it to the laser. The bottom left corner is open. My start point is the top left corner. If I turn the squart, the gap moves with the shapes rotation. RDWorks does not leave a gap. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightburn, but it did not help.

Check if “Tabs and Bridges” (in Cut Settings) is enabled, this typically results in small gaps.

If it’s not an errant Tabs setting, the tube temperature may be involved.

The power level at which a tube will fire depends strongly on the temperature: colder tubes seem less willing to wake up than warm ones.

The controller lowers the tube power to the Min level as the laser head slows down while approaching a corner, then raises the power as it accelerates away.

If the design calls for power close to the tube’s minimum power level, which is around 10%, the tube may stop firing before it reaches the corner and not start firing until the applied power rises again.

If your shop is now running cooler than usual and the water cooler is a radiator, not a refrigerator, then the tube temperature may be low enough that it stops firing while going around corners. The results will depend on the design, the layer speed, the layer power levels, the shop temperature, and probably the moon phase.

A picture of the material, the corresponding lbrn2 file, and screenshots of the main LightBurn window with the layer settings will help the hive mind come up with other suggestions …

Genius! Thank you.
