Gaps in the picture

I am trying to use my Longer Ray5 laser to burn pictures, but it is making gaps in the picture by the laser itself not activating during large segments of each pass. I’ve tried cleaning the laser and adjusting the timing belts, but it continues.

This was my first attempt. When I saw what it was doing I stopped it and then cleaned the laser and adjusted the belts and wheels, with this result.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the laser to make it do this, and what I can do to repair it?

I would start with cardboard with even texture and not pine with lots of different grain and pitch.

The material is precision planed, so it doesn’t have that issue.

I found the problem. For anyone who has this trouble, it was the electronic connectors to the motherboard. Blow them clean with compressed air at all connections, and they should work fine.

Flat has nothing to do with wood grain.
