Hello, i am having some issues with freshly put on 40W Laser mentioned in title. And a new custom board on a xTool D1 Pro.
First i tried Material Test with default settings. Completly off didn’t cut anything.
Second, there are no information at all about this Laser so i don’t know any parameters or anything useful. I also have 4mm Basswood which also there isn’t any information about how much speed or power should be used.
I don’t have Air Compressor because Laser does not have built in support for it.
Every piece i tried to cut is burned on sides and it cut but it looks awful. I know Air compressor makes differences but i can’t use it.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated with this situation overall, params and laser it self
I think the first thing you will find out is this is only a 5 watt optical laser, not a 40 watt. Many manufactures use the input power to describe their lasers, where it’s the optical power that matters. That being said, run the test grid again, but with much slower speeds until you find the range that works.
Cutting will never be good with that limited power and no air assist. You will get exactly what you got, charring.
Yes it’s a 5W optical output module. It will cut 3-4mm ply if you fit it with an air assist and focus it properly. You could maybe adapt the Sculpfun air assist kit offered for their modules. Given the asking price I don’t know how you imagined it was 40W optical output.
Oh well, noone here was selling an replacing motherboard for an xTool D1 Pro, mainly motherborad was broken so old 10W Laser Head original one wouldn’t work with custom one. So i had no other choice and i thought this one was good. It took a lot of time to setup this one so i don’t wanna waste the work
Big sorry from my side. I actually really adjusted focus and did the testing, suprisingly it cut it with no issues and it wasn’t burnt so much, 1 thing is that it hard limit and i didn’t even notice so it changed direction mid work and it tried to cut it in half diagonally but turned out good.
I am still begginer in this so don’t mind my mistakes..
