There are a couple of things that cause this in software before we can blame the controller or ‘card’.
With your engraver connected to LightBurn, In the Console window in LightBurn, please type the following:
$i
$$
pressing enter after each one.
Please select and copy the text from the Console window in LightBurn into a reply here. These reports will show us the System Information report from your engraver and the Machine Settings report.
There are two other settings in LightBurn that we’ll need to know.
One is in the Device Settings window. Please open it in LightBurn and capture the information with a Screen Capture tool.
Early versions of GRBL had full-time ‘Spindle’ before the laser programming was added. New versions of GRBL can use both Laser mode and Spindle mode.
The System report will tell us if you have this early version of GRBL in your controller or not.
There is also a possibility that you have an early GRBL version selected in LightBurn.
In LightBurn, in the Laser window, please confirm that you are running GRBL instead of GRBL-M3. GRBL-M3 may command 100% laser and may be the reason for the behavior you’re seeing.
In the Console window, Please enter the following:
$31=1
then press enter.
This should restore your power scale. On more thought remaining.
We should review the Setting for S-Value max in the Device Settings ‘Pop up window’. It shows up when you click Edit, Device Settings, and look toward the bottom right corner. If S-value max = 1000 you are clear to re-test.
