Genmitsu L8 - Engraving in wrong spot when the object is higher?

Just purchased the Genmitsu L8 and I’m completely new to this- I have engraved a few thin metal plates (that sat directly on the honeycomb) and they worked out great, nice and centered and aligned. But when I tried to engrave something taller (on the z axis), it frames and engraves a bit down further and to the left of where I have it aligned on the camera capture. I was trying to engrave on a plate that is attached to a plaque that is around 0.75" thick.

I have done the camera and lens alignment multiple times and tried using only the camera preset files included on the micro SD card that came with the machine. The height knob is the correct distance (7mm). The online guides say it’s a standard camera, not a fisheye, but the preview does look a bit rounded, could that be an issue?

Is it possibly an setting in Lightburn I missed? Or do I have to simply manually align the head in the machine itself for plates like that? Any help would be great!

Not a camera guy, but calibration is at one Z height. Different height requires a different calibration.

Gotcha. So it sounds like I’ll have to manually align the head for things like that. Would be too much effort to calibrate the camera every time I engrave on something a different height.

I want to calibrate the camera to the most common thicknesses I work with and save each profile. Importing and exporting a given profile only takes a few seconds.
