New getting Missed Steps. Got a hold down magnet (quite powerful) on Stepper Motor, and also gantry obstructed on home.
The belts are OK, steps only Y mainly I think…
Could there be missing teeth - does not always occur.
Are there settings that I could change to help

The outer casing of the stepper holds the stator windings, so a strong magnet will wreck the magnetic paths within the motor.
In the best case, the magnet will not have also demagnetized the rotor. In the worst case, the rotor will have lost most of its magnetism and will never work quite right again.
Which suggests it does not home properly, in which case the controller does not know where the head is: it will throw soft limit errors, the head will crash into the rails, positions won’t work right, etc.
Fix both of those and see if the situation improves.
The MisSeps occur in the GRBL log file when I stop a job, aster the M5 in the log. It might be because there is a non existent Z axis on the LC40 machine. The missed position can be as much as 6mm. and tends to be worse when the job is in middle.
I am going to tighten the belts. Can teeth be damaged if there is a collision?
I will attach the message when I next use the machine.
