I recent purchased a Comgrow Z1 5W. Follow the instructions, I connected to my hp (windows 11) laptop and did a few test runs. The laser worked well. I was not really pleased with the limitations of GRBL and wanted a program closer to what i know (amateur graphics design). Lightburn fits the bill. However. i made a simple square as a test. The laser went through the motions, but never made a mark. I reset the job with 4 passes, and it barely made marks. As far as i can tell, my power is set at 100%.
This could go back to how $30, $31 and S-value max is set for a diode laser.
I think $30 is 1000, $31 is 0 and S-value max is also 1000 or equal to $30
What is the speed setting in mm/minute?
This is a bit of a trick question. When I started with LightBurn, I found that the default units are mm/second and I could barely make a useful mark and the speeds I had requested.
The test pattern is the best way to approach this problem.
Click on Laser Tools in the top bar then wheel down and select Material Test.
to use the terms brilliant and idiot are needed here. First you are brilliant. Second, i am an idiot. I didnt think to check the speed.
Don’t sweat it. I made the same mistake.
It’s like a rite of passage.
