Had a new laser for some reason very low % of power is burning?

hi all so had a new laser sainsmart 5.5w fixed focus not sure what’s happening but even 0.10% in frame is blinding were as my old laser would just shine a light that you can look at without burning retinas
also i have opened some templates i used on my old laser and its burning everything my old laser which was the same make just a variable focus its minimum power to burn was 40% but now im burning at as low as 5%

at the moment to burn simple text im having to run it at high speed to slow the burning rate down as i cant get it low enough to not burn

Sounds like it’s configured correctly based on what you’re saying.

If the laser is modulating power at all that sounds like the wiring is correct.

Is it possible that your old module had gotten weaker and weaker over time and you hadn’t realized how much?

Try one thing, can you setup a simple job with 100% power and then save the gcode with a .txt extension and upload here? Will review to make sure the gcode looks correct for your configuration.

Looks like power levels are fine. So short of your controller malfunctioning it seems like it’s working as it should.

You may want to ask Sainsmart to confirm what you’re seeing is to be expected.
