Haotian fiber mopa 60w settings

Hey pals,

So I’m having a heck of a time figuring out what settings to use with my f-theta lens, f-290mm. I use a Haotian fiber laser, 60w. I have dialed in my 100mm and have used it a ton, but for some reason this new lens is evading me. I’m marking a black anodized aluminum sheet and the reason for using this other lens is I need to etch a bigger design. After several hours of trial and error, I was able to make a .25" square with the following line settings:

speed = 50
power = 100
q-pulse = 500
frequency = 1000
passes = 50

However, there’s a couple issues:

  1. the square isn’t marking deep enough. This might just require more passes.
  2. When I move on to an actual outline I’m trying to etch in, I’m not getting any mark at all. I am guessing this is to do with the larger size and maybe the heat dissipating for the next pass or something. But I am still a bit of a rookie.

Am I on the right track? Are there other settings I need to be looking at? Thanks in advance for the guidance - I’m betting I am missing something right in front of me. :see_no_evil:
