had to get an older version of lightburn after my hard drive crashed, v1.4.05, everything loaded and went well. but when i try to test the laser on making a 5x5 square burn in the cebter of the grid, it sounds like grinding gears for a second then it moves a little from the front left corner “home” position and starts the burn, obviously im doing something wrong, any ideas, im using a laptop to run lightburn and a foxalien 5w laser
just tested using absolute coordinates and it works right, frames correct and homes, but when i switch to user origin or current position and try any framing or burning, the laser locks up in the home coner if i frame, and grinds then tries to burn in the home corner if i try an actual burn
Not very I’m in St Augustine, are they settings I can check? Or is it in the programming itself. I burned a tile using absolute coordinates and it worked, I guess I could just use that setting
Stick with Absolute Coordinates, whether you have Home switches or not. Then you can imagine looking down through the Lightburn workspace into the laser workarea. This also gives you accurate and repeatable positioning if you have limit switches.
Machines without limit switches have to use Origin, which can be anywhere depending on what you do. The only time I use Current Position is with the Rotary, and I never use User Origin. My machines have limit switches.
Mine has switches also, and I’ll stick with absolute coordinates, would still like to figure out why it does what it does, but oh well, puzzle for another day
Thanks for the help
