Has anyone used FluidNC with a rotary?

Has anyone successfully used a roller rotary with Fluidnc and Lightburn?
I’ve watched lots of videos and read lots of articles and posts, but I can’t get mine to rotate the correct number of mm.
I read that Lightburn uses angles and grbl should convert it to steps, so I’m wondering if Fluidnc doesn’t do that correctly.

Did you check this document?

If you still have issues, sing out…

Good luck

Yes I read through that before posting. I tried what it says to do and it didn’t work. I used 60 mm per rotation and then 962 mm per rotation and both resulted in the 62mm jar rotating 130 mm instead of the 195mm circumference of the jar.

The drive wheel or roller of the rotary should make one turn and back, not the object on the rotary…

If this doesn’t work, it won’t…

With a wheel or roller rotary there is no need to know the circumference… at least at the software level.

Thank you for your help @jkwilborn
I understand that the roller is what I’m telling to go 60mm or 962mm per rotation. What I don’t understand is that both resulted in the same movement of the jar. I entered 195mm in the move window and clicked move Y up. It moved 130mm for both 60mm or 962mm per rotation. I don’t know what to do next.

It has to work with the test button on the gui…

If the driving wheel rotates 1 complete turn and back it should work… Is that what’s happening?

If not your steps/rotation mm is off…

If it moves the same, the rotary is likely not enabled.

When I clicked the test button, both the x axis and the rotary moved forward and backward. Should they both move?
The rotary stepper only turned a half rotation.

It sounds like both axes are still enabled…

I know very little about those machines and I can’t think of where to send you except the FluidNC people to find out if there is something special for rotary use.

Good luck

Thank you, hopefully someone will know what I need to do to get FluidNC to work.
