Have to make one portion of a polygon smaller

Please look at my file. On the left, you will see a building that is a restaurant and has a crown on it. The particular building needs to be about an inch smaller in width. This is specific for an O scale railroad layout. I built this by combining polygons, so the laser would burn the outline of all the buildings and not burn them into three sections. The other buildings are to the scale I need them to be.

Is there any way to somehow detach the “restaurant”, (a score line separates the buildings by the way) adjust the width and re-attach it to the overall design?

Thanks in advance?

Something like this?

Yes, both need to be a little thinner and I will reset the windows and doors, ect. Then I have to merge bth of them back.

Thanks.

Did you just add a line and merge it, so it would break off?

I used the boolean tool, weld tool, and the node edit tool. Here is what I came up with. Hopfully it’s what you’re looking for. I worked a bit on all the buildings.

I love the boolean tools. The method described above is my first approach.

There is also the new feature, called DEFORM under the tools menu. That creates 16 handles on the object that allow for distortions in a 4x4 grid that is overlaid on the image. It may not help you on this project, but it is very handy to have.

Thank you very much for solving this for me and giving me the file. I will work on the boolean tool. I have a few more of these to build and when you burn them in cardboard, and find out they don’t work, you have to go back and I have been one working with this software for 6 months.
