Can anyone help me with cutting. I’m trying to cut a piece of wood but it keeps engraving it. I’ve never owned a lazer and need help help with settings.

If you’ve never used LightBurn before we’d strongly recommend you check out one of our first timer videos on our YouTube channel - this section from a common Gcode laser is a great place to start: xTool D1 Laser Engraver LightBurn Set Up & First Project - YouTube
If your head is scanning side to side and etching an area, rather than drawing a line, then you’re going to want to change your cut type in the Cuts/Layers pane (top right) to from Fill to Line
If your issue is power output, you can either slow down your laser’s speed, or increase the Power Max value. If you feel your laser is not outputting as much power as it should you may need to change some settings, which we can guide you through. Let us know if you still have issues after trying those fixes above.
