Help! Mira 7 Z axis can't be moved back up

Hi! We just received our Aeon Mira 7 on Friday afternoon and yesterday started to use it. We lowered the Z axis and after that it now won’t move back up. When we press either button to now move the Z axis it just makes a grinding noise. We read on another forum to manually lift it back up with the belt however we can’t see the belt to do this. Please help :frowning:

A couple things can cause this type of operation… But it can depend on if the Z axes motor is just a DC motor or if it’s an actual stepper motor driven by the controller…?

If there is a mechanical binding, like it went too far and is kind of stuck… Sometimes these don’t have the torque to unstick them…

Whatever the circumstances, it sounds like you will need to find a way to physically move the belts/chain or whatever moves the table. Of course with power off…

If it’s a stepper driven by the controller, there is a piece of hardware between the controller and the motor, called the motor driver… These, like all electronics, can fail. Most have a red light to indicate a hardware failure…

I’m afraid you’ll have to open it up… I don’t know these machines, but it sounds stuck and it will need, at minimum, a shove to help figure out if it’s just stuck or there is actually a hardware component failure.

Good luck
