Help - Why am I getting these vertical lines between fills?

$32=1, $31=0, and $30=1000. Using rotary chuck.

In the Console window in LightBurn, with everything powered up, running, and connected, please request the system info report from the xTool by typing:
$i
then press enter.

Please copy and paste that result here.

One of the early xTool Firmware versions would produce marked travel lines.

If it’s not firmware, It could be a communication error but that is considerably less likely.

I have been getting these lines for months, only horizontal. I inquired about this issue in this forum only to be told that it was not the software. I’m not sure if ‘software’ and ‘firmware’ are the same thing, but my issue continues still to this day.

To assist, here is a quick overview, but Firmware lives in the chips of your laser system (the controller), where Software is running on your computer like LightBurn or your favorite spreadsheet app.

Hardware, Software, and Firmware

What it is:

Hardware, software, and firmware are the three core components that make up present-day computers and systems. Hardware includes the physical components of a computer system, which may wear out over time and require replacement. Software includes sets of instructions that allow a variety of inputs from the user. Firmware is a specific type (or subset) of software that is designed to act as the intermediary between the software and hardware or for the operation of single-purpose embedded systems, such as printers or routers.

The firmware you have running is the exclusive responsibility of the laser hardware manufacture. LightBurn talks to this firmware to learn how the system is set up and the controls available. Using this understanding, LightBurn can then produce the correct code needed to produce what you plan, and then send this coding to the laser for production.

To find resolution to your questions, you will need to provide the exact firmware version, and the current settings you have applied in the firmware.

How do I go about getting that information?

XTools, if your forum profile list is the laser system we are referring to.
