Help with laser skipping spots

I have the FoxAlien Reizer 20w laser, I was learning how to etch painted tiles and noticed that there are spots all the way across the tile that the laser completely missed burning, can anyone tell me what the reason for this could be? I processed the image in Imagr, and use Lightburn software to control the laser.

It is more than likely a problem with your laser not turning on.

Is this a relatively new machine?

Check any of the connector, wiggle them at least, for a good connection.

This usually takes time, but check wiring anywhere it moves or rubs.

Nice job on the time – excusing the problem areas.

Good luck

Yes only had it a week, noticed it doing this as I was experimenting, it even does it on wood. I did notice the air nozzle for the air assist was dirty and cleaned it really good with alcohol and it took a lot of the lines out. I ran it on wood without the nozzle or air and there were no lines, I also ran it on wood with the air and nozzle on but almost on full blast and there were no lines, so I’m at a loss as what I should do. I honestly do not remember if the air was on when I did the tile. If it’s ok I’ll try that and email you back. Thank you for at least answering I’ve been on 20 forums and got 0 replies

I think you solved this yourself.

You have a lose air assist part that is getting in the ‘way’ of the beam at certain places…

This stuff needs to be better than ‘snug’ as it changes directions quickly and can exasperate any lose item…

One last question, I’ve seen several videos using the Norton method and I don’t remember them saying use air assist, I just started a burn and the first half looked great but half way thru the laser burned weaker and I have a large spot again that burned different, I was NOT using the air assist at all but the nozzle is on, should I use air for this method or just take the nozzle off and run without it

As a general rule, you use low pressure air assist when you’re engraving. This is to keep the optical path (nozzle/lens) free of debris.

I have mine set so you can barely feel it at the nozzle but use 60lps psi when I cut any wood or mdf products…

Low pressure for cutting acrylic…

My machine runs low pressure air assist any time it’s running. The layer ‘air assist’ controls high pressure enable.

The nozzle mount/connection seems to be the problem. The air is not going to block your laser beam and leave empty areas like you are getting.

Good luck

Thank you I’ll tinker some more
