Help with laser traveling through project

I am having trouble with my laser traveling with the laser engaged from the top cutting through material to the actual project being worked on and also cutting through the project. I have defaulted the settings twice and went through the console for the value. The value $32=1. And I have gone through the series of turning off and unplugging. Then also opening and closing the lightburn software. Any help is appreciated.

Is this a new laser or new with Lightburn?

What are your $30, $31 settings? Does $30 have the same value as “S-value Max” ?

Traverse line marking is most often caused by the $32 not equal to 1.

Here’s a quick test:
Enable Laser Fire Button in Device Settings
Select Laser On while Framing (just below that in Device Settings)
In the Move window set Power to 1%
In the Move window set Speed to the speed you selected for engraving.
Put on your safety glasses!!
Click Frame in the Laser Window.
Does it mark the work as aggressively as you were engraving?

If it does mark the work at 1% power it’s possible that the PWM is stuck fully on.

If so, testing the engraver with alternate software may help verify that this is a hardware problem and may help you resolve this with xTool Support.

Earlier versions of the D1 Pro firmware caused issues such as you describe. I would recommend that you use the xTool XCS software to upgrade your D1 firmware and see if this solves the problem.

Excellent - Good to know! Thank you.

When running LightBurn, you’ll see an initial connection message in the (LightBurn) Console Window when the xTool D1 Pro Connects.

If you select and Copy that message and paste it into a reply here we can see which firmware version is in place in your engraver. Other software may allow this too.

Here is all the information that comes up when opening the software.

How would we be able to update the firmware, if needed, for the xtool d1 pro?

I attempted the test above for the power framing, it did not make any marking at with it at 1%.

And id like to mention that the softwares, even though i was working alot better with the light burn software, i havent had the same issue with the xtool software creative space.

Here is the technique for updating your firmware that is recommended by xTool.

That’s great, the framing tool is a visual outline of where the work is supposed to be located or placed. The laser PWM feature isn’t stuck on if it didn’t mark.

In LightBurn, select Edit, then Device settings, and confirm that S value max is set at 1000, the same value the same value that is assigned to $30.

LightBurn controls a lot of different equipment and different kinds of equipment. Manufacturers occasionally ‘innovate’ and make firmware changes that present new hurdles for us. If their firmware update does not resolve the symptom please let us know.

(Edit: If that strange traverse line happens again with LightBurn after the xTool firmware update, click File, then click Save GCode, and email that file to Support@lightburnsoftware.com Attn: John and include the link to this forum thread) If there’s something strange going on that should show us what’s doing that and hopefully why.)
