HELP! Y-axis issue

I have a craft show tonight and my red-and-black laser went wonky. Argh!

The X-axis tracks fine, but the Y-axis says that it is traveling 500mm when it only goes about 180mm (as I watch the reading on the Ruida displayu and measure manually.).

  1. I have tried the calibration.
  2. I have reset and rebooted the laser numerous times, not just cycling it off and on, but also disconnecting the plug.
  3. I installed the latest LightBurn update.
  4. When I turn OFF the machine, I can manually move the gantry and carriage freely in all directions. There are no obstructions. The belts are tight.

Extremely frustrated and bewildered.

Any ideas?

Check the motor drivers to ensure this isn’t a hardware error of some type… the power/error leds are circled on the left one.

How hot did your motors run?

My motor drivers were ‘factory set’ to twice the rated current of the motors…

Although highly doubtful the controller could fail… there is a hardware ‘error’ led on the Ruida itself… Might have a look at that… doubt it but you’ll be there anyway.

There isn’t much to cause this, if you didn’t change anything … that I can think of … sounds like some kind of hardware issue and I’d guess a motor at this stage, but only a guess.
