Here are a few pictures of my Millmage projects

I wanted to share a few of my recent projects made with MillMage and my CNC router.

I have created two aluminium wall clocks inspired by mechanical watch movements, an aluminium Spitfire skeleton, and a small decorative lamp assembled from CNC-cut aluminium parts.

I am still learning and improving my machining techniques, but I am very happy with the possibilities offered by MillMage.

Thanks to the developers for this great software, and thanks to the community for the helpful advice!

Thank you very much! I’m really glad you like them. I had a lot of fun machining and assembling all the aluminium parts.

Working with MillMage is a real pleasure. The original clock files come from Etsy, from the shop VyvaStudioDigital . I adapted them slightly for my CNC router.

I will also post a picture showing all the parts needed to make one clock.

Here is my third aluminium clock, also made with MillMage.
This one has a different design, but it was made using the same process: CNC machining


and careful assembly of the different aluminium parts.
Once again, working with MillMage made the whole process very enjoyable.

This is inspiring. Thank you for posting.

I’d love to know what your toolpath/cutter/coolant situation is like when cutting these parts. Even workholding would be tricky.

Thank you! I cut these parts on a CNC router from 2 mm aluminium sheet. I usually use a 2 mm single-flute carbide end mill, around 18,000 RPM, with shallow passes of about 0.3 to 0.5 mm.
For lubrication, I use air with a little cutting oil/mist. Workholding is indeed the tricky part: I use a flat spoilboard, clamps when possible, and sometimes double-sided tape/CA glue, with small tabs to keep the parts in place until the end.
