Hi if some one could help it would be great thanks
Since updating to ver 2.1 all my engravings are burning too much at the start and finish also tops of text like a “h” or “f”. I have varied my power settings and tried turning constant power on and off, also I noticed that overscanning has changed to 2.5% where as I thought I used to have it at 1.2% but not sure

Hi @cjsilk

I can see from your profile this is a Yorahome Silverback 6060.

If you’re on an early 2.1 version, please update to the latest 2.1 release first and retest (at this time 2.1.03).

Burning heavily at the start/end of engrave moves can happen if Laser Mode is not enabled. In the Console window, type $$ and press Enter, then look for the $32 setting.

You want:

$32=1

If it shows $32=0, type $32=1 in the Console and press Enter, then retest with Constant Power Mode turned off in the layer settings.

Overscan at 2.5% is not unusual. Reducing overscan can actually make edge overburn worse, because the machine has less room to accelerate/decelerate before the laser fires.

If it still happens after checking $32, please post a screenshot of your Cut Settings for that layer and a photo of the engraving result.

Thanks for responding, the S32 was =1 but I did find that the update to 2.1.03 changed my MAX power to 10000 whereas before it was 1000. Yes, I have both the Silverback 6060 and the problem was on my Falcon 2 40w
It appears OK now that I changed the MAX power to 1000
