If you screenshot your program screen we could better help diagnose your issue. However, there are a few circumstances that can cause this.

I had this several times when I started. I was trying to use user origin or current position and had items “stored” outside the work area. Those would want to print as well as what was on my work area giving the out of bounds error. The other thing that I found caused this is not setting the origin position or setting it in a position that didn’t allow for the design.

If you use absolute coords for your start from and place your workpiece within the work area you shouldn’t receive this error.

This video should help.

I have it on absolute coords, but i still get the message. here’s the screenshot

Click the icon I’m pointing to and see if it zooms the window to just show the tag.
If it doesn’t, then something else is in the workspace that is partially outside of the confines of the setup.

A couple of things to look out for:

  1. Home your machine before every session
  2. Never manually move the laser module by hand, use jogging controls exclusively

You’re likely violating one or more of these things.

If not, can you confirm whether or not you’ve changed any configurations on your machine or any other modifications?

This helped. moved it to the middle a little more and it started to do the trick. the only thing is though, it isnt doing any of the fill in where its supposed to (the words). it did the outline shape line right but not the words

nevermind, its saying the same error again

Have you been successful in doing any project yet or is this your first attempt? Can you upload your project file for us to look at?

this is my 1st project, basically just doing a test file. This is the project im doing, just a very simple name tag. I’ve messed around with it for a bit and found out that for some reason, it has no problem doing any lines for the file. But when i try to get it to do a fill, thats when the error comes up

I know on there it shows line for both but the blue layer is supposed to be fill at 10,000 speed 100% power

can you upload the *.lbrn2 file? I don’t see anything amiss in the screenshot but I want to look at your settings.

OK, here’s a few things I see. Don’t know if they’re your problem, but should be fixed either way. First, go to settings and change your speed to mm/min. Just about everyone works in that when it comes to settings and if you are working in inches it’s easy to get mixed up when talking with someone.

The Blue layer in line mode is set to 10 passes, probably don’t want that.Change that to 1. When I switch it to fill mode your line interval is sky high at 1.7780mm/14.29 lines per inch these numbers should be more like 0.100mm/254LPI and 1 pass. The black layer you have set for 30 passes, probably don’t want that, lthough it may take a couple passes to cut depending on what your material is. You will want to run at a much lower speed to cut. Uncheck constant power mode.

I made the changes to the file, but you will need to change the speed setting in your Lightburn Settings (the gear icon in the top toolbar next to the preview window)

I need to go to bed, but I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for you help

This could be your problem. You’re using inches/minute, but 10,000 inches/minute is far faster than your laser can actually travel. If you have Overscanning enabled for that Fill layer, it also means LightBurn is calculating a significant amount of extra distance for your laser to accelerate and decelerate up to that commanded speed (even if your laser can’t reach it), and those extra movements could be commanding your laser to run outside its physical bounds, leading to the Alarm 2 error.

Try changing your units to mm/minute in your LightBurn settings (Edit → Settings), or converting 10,000 mm to inches, for ~393 inches/minute.
