Annie Sloan Soft Wax (for milk painted items). I had a few cans laying around from an auction purchase, but hadn’t paid it much attention. Then I tried it…yeah, home run! Not cheap, but after multiple DIY formulas, her dark wax is the perfect way to highlight my guitar stand engravings. So far, the results are perfect on maple, cherry and walnut. Trying oak later today, but I expect just as perfect for what I need.
The CO2 leaves more boring brown than the blue diode, but both do amazing when you rub this stuff in. Saturate a small piece of cloth (I use a piece of a thick cotton bath towel) with the wax, and rub it into the piece, then rub and rub some more.
Eventually, like a kinda spit shine, it hardens up and is where it’ll be for life. A toothbrush for those areas around fonts and smaller detail you don’t want to overload with the wax, but even after a day, you can clean those areas out easily. I’m thoroughly impressed with how well it works.
