Hi! I run a store online doing those acrylic light signs that you see online, anyways lately ive been having issues with this horizontal banding that occurs on my pieces, it happens id say 75% of the time, sometimes they turn out okay though. It still happens pretty often if i turn off bi directional filling. Ive cleaned the lens, checked the mirrors, air assist, and everything I could think of. My usual settings are 300 mm/s at 20 power (& 500 lpi), though, if i change the power/speed the banding still occurs. Its not the image im using, as ive had it happen with pngs, tracing then filling, etc. Ive seen other posts mentioning it could be power draw but my laser is completely separate from everything, though it does have built in air assist. It runs into a 10 gauge extension cord. If anyone has any ideas and suggestions please let me know! thanks
I have some similar, but don’t really effect the end product.
I believe I have the same animal as you…
Finished mirror
These two have two different scan lpi, at the mark is the change over. Too bad I didn’t document it, since I apparently didn’t save it either, at least on this machine.
I just figured it was the material doing it. My library has my engraving on a mirror at 150mm/s @ 13%.
‘I think’ the top was 254lpi and the lower was nearer 320lpi.
These are 12"x12" mirror tiles. It’s ‘off’ a little as the mirror came out of the machine between engraving.
