If I have lots of individual shapes scattered over my grid is there a way of aligning them tightly together to save space when I cut?

So far, svgnest has been fairly useless for me. Multiple objects overlap regardless of how I set the spacing. 0, 1, 5, 15… no difference at all. Some objects even go outside the frame/box! Tried deepnest, no problems at all.
