You’ll have to see the photo. I am able to cut letters out, but I want to be able to do something like the photo where I am cutting the space around the letter out.

I create these on a regular basis. Pretty darn easy, too.
Create your text.
Drag a rectangle around it. You can apply a radius on the corners to look smoother. Ensure that there’s overlap of the rectangle to the text. Upper case letters are almost a certain requirement.
Select the rectangle, use the offset feature to create the border.
Select the text, then select the inner rectangle. Use the boolean subtract which will join the letters to the rectangle.

Typefaces are such a subjective feature. That question borders on impossible!
