How does Lightburn interact with Candle with a GRBL controller?

Ordered a new FoxAlien machine with a 20W diode laser. I comes with “Candle” to operate. 1st Question.

  1. How does Lightburn interact with Candle?
  2. The machine is actually a CNC Router with an interchangeable Laser as described above. Will Lightburn also work well with the engraving/carving abilities of the spindle instead of the laser?

It doesn’t. Candle is a gcode sender. You can export the gcode from LightBurn and run it from Candle if you want, but there’s no need. LightBurn can do that directly.

No - LightBurn is not designed for such operations.

Hey Adam, thanks for the info. I’m new to the engraving CNC equipment. The machine I bought is a FoxAlien 4040-xe. Was wondering what I will need to run the cnc program though the spindle. I’ll make my purchase of Lightburn when I get my machine and get it set up. That’s why I was inquiring if LightBurn would work thru the CNC operation of the spindle.

Thank you @anon88048707 . Just trying to figure out how to get started. Good information.

@anon88048707 My machine won’t be here until the 28th. Figured I would sign up for the free trial of Easel Pro then go to the free version till I figure out what I’m doing.

@anon88048707 not sure I understand about the air assist. I seen them on Amazon but don’t know the purpose.

@anon88048707 again, thanks for the info. I’m sure I will have plenty more questions as I go through the learning curve with this machine.
