How is Lightburn working on Linux? Any issues?

Anyone having any issues on Linux? And if not what version are you using?

My windows pro laptop was working great until the last few windows updates and now its barely usable. Freezing up all the time. Takes 15 mins just to turn on. Its plenty good enough. Intel i7-7700HQ, 24Gb ram. 1tb ssd. Only used for this running Lightburn and file sync. Windows defender seems to be hogging resources like crazy stopping it from doing anything everytime.

I was figuring using Linux mint or Ubuntu but was afraid maybe that was unstable or some major differences in how the software works.

Stability seems on par with any other OS. The software itself functions essentially the same way across OSes.

While people have gotten LightBurn to work across distributions I’d suggest sticking to an officially supported version for the least surprise unless you’re very comfortable in Linux. Specifically, I’d suggest starting with Ubuntu 20.04.

Having said that, LightBurn should run fine on any version of Windows since version 7 including the latest Windows 11 builds. There’s likely some conflict occurring not necessarily related to the core product.

Oh my problems are 100% a windows issue which Im assuming because I wont upgrade to windows 11 and keeps trying to make me do so. It seems to have installed an update about 3 updates back that caused these problems. It was working fine before and Ive never had issues with the laptop. It only stays at machine and just runs lightburn when I use it. With a file sync to get the new files from other computers to laser machine.

I’ll try Ubuntu then. Thanks

It’s not a terribly hard install but I do suggest reviewing the documentation on this.

I’ve been happily running it on LM:DE with no problems, though I am trying to resuscitate an old Mac that prolly can’t run that, so we’ll see if’n I can get it running on Solus (not a recommended distro for newbies).
