I have a Sculpfun S30 Pro and most of the jobs I do involves engraving and cutting 3mm Basswood.
Can anyone suggest how many hours I should use the laser before cleaning. The instructions say “when performance falls off” which isn’t too helpful when you’re changing settings to achieve a desired result.

If you use a mirror to look into your laser head from below, you will see if the cooling fins are clogged or not. The easiest thing is to use compressed air to clean the laser, but that is a bit of a mess. The laser’s cooling fan should also be blocked with a thin screwdriver or similar while you clean with compressed air to prevent it from generating power, the controller doesn’t like that.
If there is no dirt then there is no problem with the temperature of the laser head and there is no need to clean it.
