Hello, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to select a series of objects then align them so they are organized and evenly spaced. I have played around with Align and Distribute but have not been able to crack it. Attached is an example of what I have. I would like them to be lined up and close together with a small amount of space-not touching.
Thanks. I did mess around with it and got better results. Thank you. Is there a way to get the distance between them all equal? I have not been able to accomplish that.

AFAICT, those tools do not provide any control over the gap between the objects, but spaces them evenly to fill the original end-to-end distance. If the exact spacing is important you can start with a single object and apply the Array Tool to space them as needed both horizontally and vertically:
Should you need different text / numbers in each one, the Variable Text tool will become your best friend:
