How to assign usb port to Lightburn

When ever I start Lightburn it always goes to Com1 then I have to select Com 4, I would just as soon have it always on Com 4

Take a look at this post. It shows how to exclude certain ports:

Take a look at this post: By creating a PortExclude.txt file in the prefs folder you should be able to exclude the problem COM ports. That might prevent them from being referenced but not sure which of these activities takes precedence.

I wouldn’t change it because Com1 might be assigned to something else. But if you turn on your laser machine before you open lightburn it should remember to connect to COM4 and connect automatically after you do it the first time.

Using PortExclude.txt doesn’t prevent the use of that port in other applications. It only excludes it from consideration in LightBurn.

I am going to leave it alone when it comes to computers I am the best at screwing up the data it works I just have to exert a bit of energy. I thank all of you for your wisdom.
