I had an alarm come on and paused the job. I finally got the alarm of but now when I try to send a new job to the engraver machine, is say it cant sent information to the machine, it must be paused or busy. How to I reset the machine?
Turn it off, wait 15 seconds and turn it back on?
Make sure there is no COM port listed in the Laser window.
No that didn’t work either.
I have completely unplug the machine, usb and power cord overnight. When I try to send a new job to the machine, I am still getting this message: “Transfer failed - LightBurn 1.7.01, ,message reads: There was a problems ending data to the laser. the machine may be busy or paused.”
I am sorry I don’t understand, No COM port? I am hooked up to com port 6 like always.
Okay, let us try it by the numbers…
Do nothing except what is listed here. No playing with the controls.
- Power off everything.
- Unplug the USB cable from the PC.
- Power up the PC.
- Launch Lightburn.
- Confirm there are NO COM ports listed.
- Power up the laser.
- Plug in the USB cable. Windows should “ding”.
- Confirm there is only one COM port listed.
If you have AutoHome set, it should perform the Home operation. If not, the location of the laser head where you powered up will be the Origin location.

I did not think to ask, “Is it working now?” If it is, save the previous Post for future adventures.
It’s worth noting that it you’ve changed which USB port you are using to connect the USB cable to the computer that Windows will likely have assigned it a different com port number.
