How to create a hotkey for assigning a selected object to a layer?

Hey, I’d like to be able to select objects and quickly assign them to a layer without having to move my cursor down to the colored box and clicking on it. Is this possible? Due to my use case, I have to change lots of objects back and forth so this would save me a lot of time.

Just to be clear, if, for example, I have a square shape selected on the grid, could I create a hotkey to assign it to the blue layer named “01”? So instead of having to move my cursor down to the colored layer box, I can instead press “1” on my keyboard, to assign it to that layer.

Welcome and thank you for this question.

Yes, yes you can. With the release of version 1.3 and up, LightBurn provides a ‘Hotkey Editor’, allowing you to set as you describe. Well, not exactly as you describe , as you will need to use a modified character key for your Hotkey assignment. Below, I show I have just set Hotkeys for layer C01 and C02 to share this feature.
